The Local Government of Naga City, in cooperation with the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints who acted as sponsor, launched the Naga City Family History Center this April 11, 2011.
The Family History Center provides online index and database of families in the Philippines. It has collections of microfilms that contains records of birth, marriage and other personal records that date back as far as the 1700’s.
The Family History Center in Naga City, is not only the second one in the Philippines, next to Marikina, but it is also the second in the world.
The Memorandum of Agreement was signed by Mayor John Bongat for the City of Naga, and Elder Keith B. Edwards, from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
The center was spearheaded by Councilor Nathan Sergio, and managed by the Naga City Library.
To access the microfilm records, you will have to visit the Raul S. Roco Library in Naga City. It will also be available on-line. There are four microfilm readers and two computer units that for use in the family history center.
